Summer Camp Staff

We are looking for awesome camp folks. Camp staff are teachers, college students, and professionals who love working with children.  We emphasize education, community, and self-advocacy.  Three-person staff teams lead a group of 12 campers in daily activities, lessons, and camp fun.   We also love being out in the heat, playing silly games, talking with caregivers, supporting queer kids, finding lost shoes, talking about memes, putting on sunscreen, choosing music for van rides, and much more!

Research shows that applicants from marginalized groups might not apply for a job if they do not surpass all qualifications. We encourage applicants who meet our basic requirements to apply to work with us. We value personal and professional experience and people from all backgrounds.

Staff are able to participate comfortably in activities, but are not required to be experts.  Specialty activities (kayaking, photography, etc) are led by outfitters with special skills.  We are there to support our campers and the outfitters.  We are outdoors all day, so we do require that you've had previous jobs that are physically demanding (teachers, camp counselors, restaurant servers are good examples). All staff have the decision-making skills to keep kids safe in the outdoors.  We provide a staff training and classes to enhance your knowledge base.

We LOVE working with kids. Educators appreciate the autonomy with a weekly budget and schedule, tailoring group dynamics, and personal growth that comes from leading their own small group each week. Career-oriented staff will gain experience for jobs as educators, counselors, camp professionals, guides, etc.  A successful candidate understands child development and can create age-appropriate games, discipline, and communication.

QT Camp values all campers and employees. We will not discriminate in employment, recruitment, compensation, and other conditions of employment on the bases of race, color, gender, national origin, age (except for driving), religion, creed, disability, veteran's status, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.  We model this for our campers, in communication with caregivers, and in working with our outfitters.  Staff help campers learn to work together through the Camper Code of Conduct.
