We Believe...

At QT Camp, children are able to learn and grow in inclusive spaces, with affirming caregivers, mentors, and friends, to become their authentic selves.

Our programs center Queer and Trans kids, but allies and extended families are welcome!

Safe Space

We believe that safe, affirming spaces are necessary for all children’s emotional development.

Camp Programs

We believe that camp programs like outdoor adventure, games, and activities, help to develop curiosity, confidence, and resilience.

Education

We support campers with positive role models and age-appropriate educational opportunities focused on self-advocacy and health.

Community

We also support caregivers with education and opportunities to build community.

How It Started

QT Camp began as a pilot program of Famous Adventures Summer Camp, and the need for affirming, inclusive spaces has continued to grow.

2022

SC H4608, bans transgender students from participating in school sports.

 173 anti-trans bills are introduced nationwide.

Kyndra creates pilot programs of QT Camp to ensure LGBTQIA+ kids have a access to recreation in safe space.

2023

This year, nearly 1/3 of LGBTQIA+ children report decreased mental health because of current legislation.

Nadia, Kyndra, Dani and Sage create QT Camp as a 501(c)(3) to address ongoing education and health needs of LGBTQIA+ kids.

2024

701 anti-trans bills are filed in the United States. SC H4624 prohibits gender-affirming care and requires schools to "out" students.

Camp begins! 22 campers attend two weeks of free summer camp, thanks to support from over 100 individual donors and a grant from AFFA.

QT Camp has been the product of hard work by our founding and current volunteer board members, hundreds of community supporters and donors, and our camp families.

How It's Going

As our community grows, so does the work behind the scenes. Our dedicated board ensure that we continue to uphold our mission, create amazing camp programs, and implement best practices for working with LGBTQIA+ kids and families.

We set a challenging goal to double the number of campers and families involved... and we are proud to announce that we exceeded our 2025 goals. Thanks to the overwhelming community support, we are excited to continue this momentum into 2026!

Campers served: 22  ->  48

Individual Donors: 154 -> 213

Event Participants:  64 -> 154

Cost of Camp remains $0

“I loved seeing my kids joyfully connect with others. At the end of the day, my oldest kid had more energy and was more at ease because she was not choosing to mask as she so often has to do in a school or other peer-group settings. The fact that she was up and ready to go to camp EVERY SINGLE day blew my mind. Upon reflection, I see what an incredible difference in energy and bandwidth affirming spaces and experiences like QT Camp can offer. I only wish my children had similar experiences in school. The care and attention given to meeting campers where they are and making the space exclusively for kids who identify as LGBTQIA+ is sooooo very important from a caregiver perspective.”
